Conference Call - July 6, 2000
We first discussed the list of participants for the September workshop. We had a few positions that were still not filled: computer professional and journal editor. Paula will talk to Calhoun with Apple and if he is not available she will talk to someone at Adobe.
John Staudenmaier had been asked to participate as the journal editor, but recently informed us he could not attend. Mark will ask Michael Grossberg, editor of the AHR. If he is not available Mark will ask Chris Tomlins.
Jan Rieff has not yet responded to our invitation. Because we have one too many invitees we are not going to pursue her.
After David Carlton resigned from the field committee we decided to invite Naomi Lamoureaux to represent Economic History. Mark will contact her.
Mark volunteered to write the summary report of the surveys. If Jeff is interested he will help with that task.
Mike suggested that we add an oral/aural component to the workshop. Our approach is very text based at the present. We might think about adding artifactual representation and material culture. [there was more discussion here but I didn't take notes on it]
August 1, summary report of survey responses
September 1, finalize structure of field meeting in workshop
Mike and Paula will work on the Visualization & Interactivity topical session; Mark will work on oral resources on web for the digital media session.
