1. Concept of Networking Cultural Heritage How familiar is your organization and its constituents with the terms of this vision and with the current issues that have to be grappled with to make this vision a reality? Our membership is divided in their knowledge of the terms of the vision. I would say that a strong majority understand intellectually that these issues exist. Within the that majority there is a significant number who are already actively working on the issue. There is, however, a minority who either are not interested, cannot imagine or have not the resources to follow the issue, much less understand them.

2a Given this definition of advocacy, how does your organization advocate for networking cultural heritage? I think we would subscribe to the definition and say that is what we do. In addition, if necessary we would go the next step and lobby congress to support our point of view. |
2b Do you have a different working definition of advocacy than the one we offer here? Our advocacy issues are much broader than the ones covered in the definition and take more of our energy and resources. They are for instance tax issues as they relate to nonprofits and federal funding for the arts and humanities. |
2c Projects? Of the projects that your organization participates in, which are related to digital networking? The draft guidelines for digital imaging, the AMICO project and similar projects. |
2d Partners? If you collaborate with partners in any networking advocacy activity, who are they? We most likely would collaborate with the American Assoc of Museums, humanities organizations and any others who share our point of view.
2e Measure Success? How do you measure the success of your networking advocacy projects? Except for the draft guidelines which the AAMD Board have endorsed in principle, and the AMICO project we have not had such issues that we followed closely. |
2f Target? Besides NINCH members, what groups should NINCH target for advocacy? I think if we convince our own first, which will be no small task in some instances. When I say convince our own, I mean the constituents of the NINCH members -- ie, AAMD's individual museums. |
